Ci-dessous quelques uns des
meilleurs livres que j’ai lus récemment.

Marie-Madeleine Davy, Traversée en solitaire

une sorte d’autobiographie d’un des grands esprits du 20^ème siècle. Ce qui me fascine dans ce livre n’est pas tellement la liste (certes impressionnante) de personnes rencontrées par l’auteur au cours de sa vie, mais plutôt cet éloge d’une vie loin des foules, de l’aventure de voler par ses propres ailes intellectuelles, des reflections sur un parcours spirituel / religieux / humain qui veut affronter la Vérité, loin des dogmes, loin des ésotérismes, seule en face de la Présence.

Un livre très encourageant.

José Ortega y Gasset, The Revolt of the Masses

Aldous Huxley, Grey Eminence

A biography of Father Joseph, the Capuchin Friar who was the right-hand man of Cardinal Richelieu. Through his impressive insight into mystic spirituality, its quirks, and the mores and truths of the times, Huxley paints a fascinating picture of a man who combined, in his life, deep piety and a practice of a certain kind of mysticism with political cunning and cold-blooded instigation of war.

One of the themes elaborated is Father Joseph’s unfailing belief in France being God’s preferred nation on earth, and thus the fight for French hegemony being an expression of Divine Will. In an age where certain nations, east and west, are starting once more to use this sort of discourse, this book makes fascinating reading.

Cees Nooteboom, Der Umweg nach Santiago
und
Im Frühling der Tau

Zwei Reisebücher, die den Leser nicht nur an Orte, sondern in ganze Denkwelten und Kulturen versetzen: Nooteboom, der begnadete Reisende ist der Kenner und tiefe Bewunderer Spaniens, das er mit offener Seele durchstreift, und der staunende Neuankömmling der Japan, Burma, Persien oder Indonesien buchstäblich er-fährt und sich in diese Welten hineintastet. Es geht um den Prozess des Reisens und um die Seele von Kulturen.
Ich lese diese Bücher immer wieder.

Wunderbar geschrieben, spannend und provokant.
